2014 Cyber Security Summit Press Release

State of Wisconsin Hosts 2nd Annual Cyber Security Summit
Wisconsin’s economy is built upon the efficiencies leveraged by a modern cyber foundation. Every day there are new reports of cyber-attacks on businesses, government agencies and individuals. As the demand for information and technology grows, so does the vulnerabilities to our financial institutions, public infrastructure and private businesses. As part of October’s Cyber Awareness Month, Wisconsin will host the 2nd Annual Cyber Security Summit on October 8 at Marquette University in Milwaukee.
Cyber security is a concern for Governor Scott Walker who recently expanded the role of Wisconsin’s Homeland Security Advisor, Major General Don Dunbar to include senior state official for cyber security issues. “State agencies receive more than 6 million incoming e-mails a day and almost 95% of those are filtered and blocked because they are malicious” said Gov. Walker. “Wisconsin has taken many steps to improve our cyber security but there is much more work to be done.”
